My Saturday Street Style

Saturday I woke at the crack of dawn smelling the makings of a great day.  Rolling out of bed I itched for the perfect Saturday street style look. An easy breezy summer looks to hit the streets of Chicago: simple, fashionable and of course for me, boyfriend jeans. My to-dos were exclusive of no limit fun with myself, girlfriends and my hubby- all in one beautiful, 75 degrees Chicago summer day. With a full Saturday planned with no work on my schedule,  I was beyond ready to get it in. Full disclaimer, I have an interesting relationship with my workout routine,  enduring phases where I’m optimistically motivated to grind out a sweat with a jog, weight training or yoga session. Other days, I’d rather do anything but see a mat, bike or a gym. I haven’t quite figured out how one girl can be so motivated to get it in one day and would rather have a tooth pulled than a workout on another, but that’s my struggle and a post for another time. This day, I woke up inspired to hit the gym, embrace my personal style and just kick it.

I hopped on the elliptical at 9:25 am. By 11 am, I’d enjoyed a quick shower, washed + conditioned my hair with my favorite (when wearing my hair straight)  Phytojoba Intense Hydration Shampoo and Phytobaume Hydration Conditioner and spent time relaxing in the steam room. By noon,  I was geared up in an all-time favorite, white cotton tank from the Banana Republic, also white, a linen-cotton blend Theory vest (I grabbed last summer) that falls right at the hips and a pair of Levis boyfriend jeans I overly- distressed with white paint, a cheese grater, and scissors. Topping off the look, I threw on my caramel-colored, suede open toe Kristin Cavallari peep-toe booties – I grabbed earlier in this month from Nordstrom with a  leather Gucci pouch. Of course, the perfect Chicago Saturday calls for the pile on of gold mixed-texture arm candy and the rocking of some bad a$s sunglasses! So yes- of course, I had to add those too.  Next stop, The Grill, an open-air, healthy food grill inside East Bank Club, whose Asian salad with romaine lettuce, shredded carrots, almonds, scallions, tomatoes, Asian dressing, garnished with fried noodles and wontons, I live for.  Can you say YUMMY!  Feeling relaxed, energized and happy with my morning commitment to me, I found my head high and vibes higher!

Next stop, meeting the girls for dinner and the movies at the AMC River East theatre. For now, I’ll relish in the laughs they left me with, the camaraderie of connecting with two sets of girlfriends, and my late night glass of Sauvignon Blanc accompanied by a plate of poached prawns later with my honey (LOL) at Honey, one of our fave, swanky Fulton Market never disappoints spots.
