Cue the spotlight—because something in you is shifting. Perhaps the thought of how to define your personal style in a more expressive way of who you are has lingered for a while. Maybe you’re standing on the edge of a bold new venture. Maybe you’re ready to pivot careers, step into the next version of yourself, or crave a fresh way to express who you are right now. Whatever stirred your spirit to land you here, I’m so glad it did.
If you’re anything like me, you love style in all its unapologetic glory. Consequently, you find magic in how fashion evolves—from the drama of Paris and New York runways to the effortless cool of your IG feed—and how those influences eventually make their way into your closet. But beyond the trends, you’re craving something more profound. A signature. A story. A style that feels like you.

In True Fashion
By its very definition, fashion constantly changes: bringing us fresh inspiration and reinventing old ones. As you marvel at new trends from season to season, I know they can get overwhelming and expensive. However, no secret, a bright, stylish, and distinctive personal style will have you feeling ‘ahmaaazing’ and get you noticed. It can also dent your wallet, but it shouldn’t. Style is priceless; it can’t be bought, but you can look and feel like a million bucks for a lot less.
Self-expression is a big part of your personal style, personal brand, and identity. And your wardrobe and personal style are great assets to help you express yourself without mumbling a word. As trends come and go, the key is to remain true to the core of your authentic self while snagging motivation from trends that appeal to you.
Harnessing Your Personal Style
While personal style may seem effortless for some, every true style connoisseur knows it’s a craft that deserves intention, experimentation, and evolution. Defining your signature style is more than just following trends; it’s discovering what truly flatters and empowers you. From the silhouettes that make you feel unstoppable to the hues that light up your spirit, your personal style is your visual voice. And perfecting it? That’s the magic of dressing with purpose and presence.
“My personal style is always evolving and changing with my perspectives, the place I am in my life, my environment, and mood. It’s my most creative outlet to express to the world how I’m feeling without mumbling a word.” Courtney Rhodes, @TheBrandista
Embrace Your Unique Features
Let’s be honest—who hasn’t admired the effortless allure of today’s most fashionable icons? But here’s the truth: we’re not meant to be copies. We’re taller, shorter, curvier, more petite—each of us a unique canvas with our own signature features, silhouettes, and creative flair just waiting to be celebrated.
Personal style isn’t about perfection—it’s about power. If your four-year-old boyfriend jeans make you feel fabulous to you, keep them in rotation. Dress them up, remix them with new textures and accessories, pair them with a bold blouse one day and a relaxed tee the next. Style is freedom. Own it your way.

Your Fabulous Personal Style
True style doesn’t come from trends—it radiates from confidence. However, this year, I want every brandista to step into every room like it’s her runway, owning her presence with ease and grace. Your time to shine is now, and I’m here to remind you that the most powerful look you can wear is the one that’s uniquely, unapologetically yours—styled with confidence, elevated with fashion, and finished with your signature flair.
Here are a few of my fave personal style tips to help you define yours:
- Play up your shape
- Style is at its best when it highlights what you love most about yourself. Start with your favorite feature—the body part you feel most adorned—and let your wardrobe work in your favor.
- A graceful, elongated neck? Showcase it with a perfectly unbuttoned blouse, a sleek fitted turtleneck, or an effortlessly chic off-the-shoulder top. Long legs? Let them take the spotlight in figure-hugging jeans, tailored shorts, or dresses that show them off in the season’s most flattering hues and cuts.
- Proportion is everything. Use volume where you want to soften attention, and go sleek where you want eyes to linger. A flouncy skirt cinched at the waist is a timeless silhouette. And on those days when you’re feeling bloated—or simply a work in progress (as we all are)—slip into a dramatic ball skirt paired with a fitted top. Instant confidence, instant comeback.
- Hemlines, too, define your silhouette. Find the stop point that flatters you most, and don’t be afraid to tailor your existing pieces so they fall just right. Or treat yourself to a new dress or skirt that does the trick. Nothing accentuates beautiful calves like a hemline that skims just below the knee—subtle, feminine, and undeniably chic.
Enjoy The Elevation
Next time an idea about how to define your personal style pops up, activate these style tips. And, enjoy the elevation.
