Let’s be honest, beautiful whimsical floral prints in vibrant colors and lush hues bedazzled us as they blew up the runways of every major fashion week this season. While an excess of dandelion, rose and marigold prints of candy-apple red to dusty-pink with white and green foliage against black fabric appeared mesmerizing and interesting,  I was less than eager to adopt the look into my own personal style. Were the prints too reminiscent of grammar school days when I lived for a pleated floral or plaid dress, or high school when I fell in love with the timeless print for the second time and lived for a floral button down?  Whatever my initial hesitation, I instantly moved beyond it meeting and falling for this modern print charming beauty. Borrowing her cue from retro ’80s floral prints, the easy breezy jumpsuit features fluid wide legs with a simple flowy bodice, I’m loving!

Jumpsuits have become my go-to,  replacing dresses which held the throne for years. When the occasion calls for me to dress up the look for a business meeting or a professional event, I throw on a traditional single-breasted blazer or a black cape. On the other hand, for an evening of unedited social fun or dinner with my hubby, I’m all about swanking it out by adding a cropped, structured-leather jacket. While I’ve rocked this floral babe with my little black leather, I’ll be trying her with other fun shades, like olive green and candy apple red. The goal is keeping the silhouette clean and modern. Either look lends to a polish feel that’s ultra-versatile, on trend and oh-so-chic.

Today’s duties called for an early dinner at Swift & Sons (their roasted oysters are always so DELISH and tasty) with hubby, our friend Vitale visiting from D.C, and their friend Ezra Knight who joined us for dinner after we watched him in a jaw-dropping performance as Alfieri in A View From The Bridge at Theatre Goodman.  I opted for a street style look built around my new floral jumpsuit (link to a similar one) in a red, green, white and mauve floral against a black background.

She’s super flirty and flows throughout the bodice and legs but belted nicely in a way that subtly flatters my waist, and on trend for fall- falls at the top of my ankle bone. To sprinkle on a little sex appeal to her whimsical vibe, I threw on a pair of red Christian Louboutin Pigalle Follies which emphasizing the pop of red from the piece.  To bring the fall look altogether, I grabbed my subtle cat-eyed, thick-rimmed black sunnies, a black leather wristlet (link to a similar one) diamond studs (of course),  silver cuff  (link for a similar) and a vintage, silver statement ring.

Wearing such a clean feminine piece under my leather jacket made my whole vibe more vibrant and created a very fashion-forward look I’ll enjoy throughout the season.  I appreciate ways to play with volume within my personal style without feeling frumpy, and the cut of this jumpsuit offers just that. It’s a great look, I’ve added to my personal style staples as an alternative to my fall looks of straighter silhouettes.
